14 06 2006Now, I understand why most of Filipino Americans prepare to retire in our homeland. It is because Philippines is an ideal retirement place for them, and eventhough the prices of basic commodities in our country is quite high at the moment but cost of living in the Philippines is low compared to the U.S.
That is why my sister, a nurse who is living in US for 41 years is planning to spend the rest of her life at home.
A dollar retirement pension make the life of a retiree comfortable if he/she chooses to stay in our country. However, as per Mr. Perry Diaz article Retiring in the Philippines, Anyone? ,the main problem that foreign retirees would have in the Philippines is health insurance.
But for me, it is more comfortable to be home rather than staying in a place called Home for the Aged.
